Taking the Plunge with a Cleanse

I've tried a lot of diets and food fads, but nothing beats the Cleanse, or does it?

BLOG #1: THE CLEANSE DIARIES

Everyone in LA is on some kind of cleanse, well almost everyone. There's Gwyneth's cleanse, that she advertises on her web site called Goop, and packaged cleanses at you can buy at places like Whole Foods.   It is a bit of a challenge if you want to prepare your own, with ingredients, blenders, and all kinds of wacky combinations of liquids and veggies that you are supposed to ingest for any number of days that you choose to try.

I decided to go for one that friends of mine told me about, where all that you need gets delivered each morning to your door.  Zipless, safe, healthy and made with all natural and organic products.  It is a 5 day commitment which seemed like something I could pull off.  This one even offers a few meals, so
I went to the website and read about it, spoke to the owner, and signed up.  Here's how it's going so far:

DAY 1: I open up my front door and there's a big card board box that has a little cardboard carrier inside that fits right into the refrigerator with 8 different drinks.  I opened up the first drink, and it was green and gloppy.  Big breath and I drank it.  One down, seven to go, is it dinner yet?   I then peered at the menu which was printed out for the day.  Along with drinks there was one soup and a veggie and pesto dinner.  Caffeine was definitely not on the menu that day, that counts as a liquid, doesn't it??  As the day progressed I got a little head-achy,  felt chilly on and off, but for the most part, I felt pretty okay.  As I prepared dinner for my family, I ate my veggies and then said good night around 8:30PM. Maybe that's the secret?  It knocks you out so you don't have to lament the food that you missed all day.

DAY 2- Woke up feeling very good.  Pipes were definitely getting cleaned out.  Opened my box and saw that there was only liquids. Not one even semi solid meal. I gagged my way through the first green drink. Then an hour later, the breakfast shake. Got ready for work and on my way out my family asked if I'd mind going to the grocery store. They said they were happy I was enjoying my cleanse, but would it be okay if there was something for them to eat?  I mean the nerve!  Do they really think there should be solid food around?  Feeding them is going to be more of a challenge than these stupid drinks.  But I was going to go for it.  Just going to have to make them something I don't like eating for diner tonite!  Gonna have to see how this ends up...Stay Tuned, MyPheme readers.  Watch for Blog #2 after I finish this diet!
