Picking The Perfect Photo
I'm so jealous that the Henne's already have their Christmas Card wrapped up.
It's around this time of year that I get nuts about trying to take a good group shot of my family for the annual Holiday Card. I think its the fall foliage that sets me in motion. A pretty backdrop is hard to resist. When my kids were much smaller, I used to drag their asses everywhere and make them pose in silly ways with the hopes of getting that perfect shot to showcase my handsome bunch. I figured that if you started in the fall, your chances of getting a good shot by early December were really good.
Sometimes you get the perfect picture very early in the year. For example, if you're on vacation and you happen to snap that amazing shot which captures the wonderful smiles and quintessential "happy bunch" feel. Although it may not be the most recent photo, (and people with OCD like myself must have the most recent photo), I have learned that it is okay to use an image from earlier in the year. The unstated rule is nothing over 11 months old...especially when kids are in the photo because they change so fast. If you have a dog, you can sometimes cheat that because dogs age differently on the outside. (Note to self: research that).
I recently reviewed all of my family holiday photos and I can recall with affection the circumstances of each one. My daughter claims that was because there was such drama in taking them. So I can only wonder what the Henne's will think years from now when they look at this holiday photo.
"Oh honey, that's the year we pretended to put Falcon in the balloon so we could get on TV"
