Yoga Pants For Me

When I lived in New York City I vowed to never let it happen.

Even when I moved to LA and saw everyone walking around in them, I still vowed that it would never be me.  Suddenly, there I was. I caved.  I succumbed. I have spent another 24 hours in my workout clothes.

So many factors contribute to this:
A.    I plan to work out and don’t get there.
B.    I actually do work out and remain in my clothes all
day, smelling, well, you don’t want to know.
C.    I WANT people to think I am in good health and think that I actually workout more I do.
D.    My husband thinks I work out more than I do and doesn’t criticize me as much when I bring home something new.

I know that some women work, some don’t.  I know that some workout and some don’t.  Some, like me, work out of the house so dressing for success is a thing of the past.  It used to be that I worried about how I actually LOOKED in workout clothes.

The old, New York me, wouldn’t tolerate the least bit of discretionary cellulite
The younger me was too vain to be seen in a pair of sneakers unless it
was inside a gym.  I should have considered it more then, as it wouldn’t be such a shock now.  It would have been smarter to do it when I was making less money as workout clothes overall are less expensive than a pair of jeans!  At least they used to be.

But here we are. I have had to make peace with the fact that it happens.  Try as
hard as I can to change, it seems like a habit that is very tough to
break.  And from what I can tell, I am not alone. That and the new fabrics that workout clothes are made of are very comfortable!  The new fabrics help suck you in and actually can give the illusion that you have no cellulite at all!!  Miracle clothes!

Workout clothes make it hard to justify buying other clothes at all.  I have a closet
of perfectly beautiful, nice clothes that wave to me as I walk by in my
workout clothes.  I’m saving them for the night out, or for the random
lunch out where it may really make a difference if I am seen in workout
clothes.  As my girlfriend Jaci would say, “And When?”

And by the way, that picture that accompanies the blog?  That’s what I
THINK I look like in workout clothes and that may further explain why I
just can’t take them off.  Pictures don’t lie, do they?
