Some Points About The Points

Maple Glazed Salmon or a box of Giant Latte Ice Cream Bars?

Weight Watchers Points are assigned based on the serving size of food and how much fiber, fat and calories are in that food. You determine your daily target point range based on gender, height, weight, and activity level. Points may range from 18-37 per day, but this can only be determined by subscribing to the online program. I have to confess that I have subscribed a few times.

The diet is very rich in high fiber foods like fruits and vegetables.  The higher in fiber, lower in calories and lower in fat a food is, it will be given a lower point value. For instance, an apple, low-fat string cheese, fat-free cottage cheese or Hummus all have 1 point. To the contrary, a Big Mac has about 13 points and a Starbucks muffin about 6-10 points- so the less fiber, higher fat and higher calories a food has, the higher its point value.

With that in mind, you have to remember that this is not bowling...you want to get the lowest score possible.

Weight Watchers has been good to me over the years, but I've recently discovered that the Daily Point allotment has me seriously working the system. I wonder if they secretly created this point nonsense to take into account those ravenous hormonal days.

Especially when 1 point comes in the form of a Giant Ice Cream Bar.

It's no Ben and Jerry's (1/2 cup = 7 points), but Weight Watchers has created a somewhat delicious High Fiber, Low Fat frozen treat and its One Point branding is letting you face load without the tremendous guilt...or at least I think it is.

If a well balanced dinner is 7 points, why not eat a whole box of Latte Bars and a huge bowl of tossed lettuce ( Zero points) and a tablespoon of fat free balsamic vinegar dressing (One point) instead?

This is why the haven't asked me to join their staff.

It's the only way to go. You also have to exercise and just remember what my weight watcher teacher used to say." if. You keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting" love Weight Watchers.
