Friendly Canadians!
Olympic's; Up close and not so personal.
Okay, so we did it. we made the trek to Vancouver and decided to see first hand what it was all about. Us and 55,000 others. Vancouver is beautiful but crowded, its like a clean, nice San Francisco. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler where the ski events are being held is nothing short of spectacular. It is really stunning and it is clear that this country has spent a fortune gearing up for the games. And even though it is crazy crowded, everyone is extremely friendly and happy.
The best and worst part of the experience are the lines and the sheer number of people from all over the world standing in them. While waiting in our first line for the gondola, we met a couple from Michigan. They, like everyone here, were incredibly friendly. Then we went into the second line with them and we found out why they were so friendly. While waiting 45 minutes in line for the bobsled event, they whipped out a flask of vodka. When it was announced that they couldn't bring it into the Sliding Center, they started offering it to us. Checking his germ concerns at the door, my husband happily complied. Heck its one way to get warm and another reason why everyone is so darn happy to be here!
