All Over Moderation
I think that was a SAT word.
I swear its like having a multiple personality disorder that decides to
ambush you all at once. It makes the United States of Tara look like a
walk in the park. Here's how it goes:
First you work out a few times a week, maybe diet regularly all of which keeps the eating guilt
at bay. Its a lot easier to splurge on pound cake if you've done a few
sit-ups that day.
Then you hit a rough emotional patch, and you decide to go for not just a bite but an entire order of desert and or maybe a few chips before dinner. Some hit the bottle, some go for the
big bloat of multiple diet cokes.
Whatever it is, the eating seems to surpass the workout benefit.
You may as well stop paying the trainer and just pay the grocery checkout dude instead. That's when the fun begins. I mean what the F? Why spend so much time battling the
bulge if you're just going to over eat anyway? I wish I could burn a few
calories by arguing with myself about this stuff. I know that there has
been a gazillion articles, studies and therapies, diets, etc. built around this psychosis.
What to do about it? I say just join your girlfriends in the pastry aisle and don't sweat it. What's a croissant among friends? Anything in moderation can't be THAT bad, can it??
