Don't Try this at Home

Whatever you do, please do NOT share this with my husband.

He was out of town and I thought it a good time to clean the closet.  HIS closet.  There are a few select shirts in particular that I know he won't miss and that have seen their day and need to get tossed.   They are also, I might add, shirts that I have never been fond of.  I was sure he would never miss that dreaded lime green plaid short sleeved button down shirt.  I knew it was wrong to toss something of his without asking.  If he did that to any of my stuff I would kill him.  But really? I had done a similar purging in the past and he never asked for the long gone clothing.
I thought  this time, I would donate them to charity.  A win-win for all. Like Robin Hood, I was stealing but then giving them away to someone who really needed or wanted that lime green spectacular.   So I went for it.  I gave the clothes to someone who occasionally does work at our home and sends boxes of stuff out of the country.  That was all fine until the following week when he was searching for one of those shirts.   "Oh" I said. " those went to the dry cleaners.."  SHIT.  I will call them to see if we can get them back this week. Shit. Shit. Shit.  I had to stall while I tried to get the shirts back before they were sent to El Salvador.  A week later, i still hand't heard back from anyone.  In the meantime, my husband CALLED the dry cleaners to curse them out for losing his shirts.  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Boy did I get him wrong.  He really DID love that pukey green shirt.   it took me a while but I was able to get the shirts back.  Whew!  I then had to call the dry cleaners and offer my next born child in apology for the grumpy husband who wanted to change cleaners.
Moral of the story?  Leave the plaid shirts.. next time just go for the stripes!
