Affair.com
Have you ever fantasized about having an affair?
C'mon, it must have crossed your mind at least ONCE. I know. You don't want to rock the boat. You are for the most part happily married. But don't you sometimes wonder what it would be like to have sex with someone else, JUST ONE TIME?? Okay, maybe 2 times?
I have had many conversations with my girlfriends about this; believe me its not just men that think about it. Then I heard about this website called AshleyMadison.com, where the tag line is: "Life is Short, have an Affair. " I heard Howard Stern mention it multiple times. The ladies on The View had the founder, Noel Biderman, on their show and they and the audience really ripped him. Check out this
"> clip. They weren't buying it. The guy actually chose the names Ashley Madison for his site as they represent current popular names for girls being born these days. That’s just plain icky.
Honestly, this seems like a concept that would fly better in Europe than in the US. However, In the interest of our MyPheme readers, I decided to log on and see what the fuss was all about. So I checked it out. The site goes beyond hooking you up with someone to have an affair with, it actually preaches the concept that monogamy doesn't really exist, that it is not in our DNA. They are actually selling the concept that having an affair is genetically OKAY, you must give into your DNA. Is that a genius marketing plan or what?
They have a resource page where you can look at articles and books to support their contention that one should just give in to what is really natural. This begs MANY questions. You can only imagine how the Christian right, Jewish mothers and likely many others all over America feel about this one.
When I clicked on and tried to sign in, there was some very funny shit to see:
First off, on the payment page it suggests that you "Purchase the Affair Guarantee Package. 1000 Credits +100% Refund Guarantee." Give me a break. An affair guarantee or your money back? How do they know? Do people actually report in? That just struck me as funny! I noticed that you didn’t get any money back if you get caught. Nor did they offer you any deal on a divorce lawyer. I have to say I was shocked to learn how successful it has become.
Noel Biderman said that in the site has been up for 8 years and has 3.6 million paid members. A good many of which are female. So what's up then? What are women REALLY feeling, saying and doing? They may complain out loud because this is certainly not PC, but when they head home, they are firing up the computer and going out for a long afternoon of..uh...shopping.
Where do you, our readers, stand on the subject of affairs? Drop us a comment and let it rip!

I suspect it's more fun to think of the affair than to deal with the logistics involved in actually acting on it.
