Camp Everything Hurts
Every year we go to a family camp in the mountains where we get a chance
to relive our childhoods and pretend that we are still teenagers with
teenage bodies.
We hike, water ski, play tennis, row boats, do yoga, go for a mountain bike rides. We are at a higher altitude which makes all of this just that much more of a challenge. The next morning people literally crawl to breakfast and the bragging begins. Not about what they did, but about how much all of it hurts. Discussions about new knees and hips, about the latest orthopedic invention. I swear one friend literally destroyed his back. Much of this can be attributed to the long jump contest he used to do with the teenage counselors up here. Are we all so narcissistic to think that we can actually recapture our youth by trying to do all of this stuff, killing ourselves as we groan and complain all the way up the mountain?
It's not a pretty picture. I would write more about it but I have to go and ice my lower back after today's 10 mile hike around the lake. The good news is that at night we manage to drink a little wine, it takes the edge off the pain and makes it possible to get up and do it again tomorrow!
MRI here I come!

You need to come Camp Debi Does it Right ........... When the last time we went camping , we slept in a hotel, took a hike along a beautiful nature trail, swam in the hotel "lake" and then had dinner by the fire ( which I had to say was in a fireplace) We had toasted marshamallows brought to our table (ala Mexico) and got up the next morning to do it all over again *s*
