My Spin Instructor belongs on a throne.

There are workouts and then there are real workouts. You know, the kind that make you want to plead for the end...and in my case, it's my weekly spin class that makes me plead not only for the end, but for MY END as well. Talk about smokin crotch...sometimes I'm afraid that it's going to spontaneously combust.

For all of you professional spinners out there, you already know that the intensity of the class is all determined by the instructor. The instructor sets the pace and provides the motivation. You can imagine my curiosity when I signed up for a spin class called CYCOLOGY. I was looking for a great workout but I wondered if I would be able to cancel my shrink appointment as well?

If you put any 12 women in a room, there's bound to be some chatter. It's what we do. The first time I walked into this class, everyone was chatting up a storm. My first thought was "how great is this...a social workout". I was dead wrong because 45 seconds later in walked the most fit, ripped woman, north of forty, that I had ever seen in person. She was kind of regal...think Queen.

With a bit of a stink eye, she raised her voice ever so slightly and said, "Ladies, if you're looking for Starbucks, you are SO in the wrong place".

She scared the shit out of me but in a really funny way because her next line was, "Puking...it's just not for supermodels anymore."

So that's where the CYCOLOGY name came from.

She makes me spin like my life depends on it.

Did I mention that she is also a 2010 Cross Fit Champion? A tae kwon do black belt?  If you want to get an idea of what fit looks like after 40, check out her You Tube Channel Exxtreme Evolution. Talk about leading by example, Julie Migliaccio is all that and more. I know that I am way more fit as a result of hanging in her kingdom...now if only I could be Queen too.

  • Hey Leah..it does not make your thighs huge..if that were the case every Man wanting bigger legs would be spinning. If you already have fat thighs then eat less....spinning burns a shit-load of calories....repetetive movement on a bike just doesnt grow that much muscle..if only!
