Parent Hot Line?
I had a brainstorm yesterday.
I had a thought when I recently was reminded about the Teen Hotline that many kids we know participate in as volunteers. I think there should be a parent version.
A parent version about how best to talk to your teens. And I don't mean about the heavy stuff like sex, drugs and rock and roll. I mean stuff like How was your day?
How was work today? What did you do last night? How are your feeling? Want to get a coffee? What do you think of Shakespeare? That kind of stuff.
A parent line could also be great for parents who want to talk to other parents going thru the same thing. We could compare notes about telltale signs that they actually do share your home. LIke piles of laundry and towels. Like the empty fridge. The occasional 20 bucks they borrow. The phone bills and the empty Urban Outfitters bags strewn around their bedroom. The mundane shit. Wouldn't that be great? The website version could be called: www.Iusedtotalktomykids.com. Or the ever popular: www.remindmewhyIhadkids.com.

I'll be one of the phone line operators , this is right up my alley for
my kids drive me crazy
grown, gone and still there
but I am sure glad
cause it means they do care
Why I had kids
they're a blessing from above
sent to me
so I could teach them about love
I know .........lame but true
