Another Dog?
It's been a year since my high maintenance dog, Dexter, died and I never thought that I'd say it but...I want another dog.
My carpets are clean, my furniture is restored, my scratched front window sills are repainted and I can hear myself think when a squirrel runs across my yard. I've made some new friends too, like the UPS guy who now lingers on my porch and would stay for dinner if I asked.
Speaking of dinner, now a days, what drops on the floor has to be picked up. That's when I look at my kids and share a little frown which always gets interrupted by my husband's daily declaration, "NO MORE DOGS!"
My husband was never a fan of dogs. "I'm a people person" is his mantra. The fact that I convinced him that a dog would be a good addition to the family is coming back to haunt me because we ended up with a dog that had MANY issues.
So how do you define MANY issues? Here are the cliff notes:
Dexter killed small animals, including our family’s parakeet, one large rabbit, 4 chipmunks and an injured squirrel. He also had 2 major surgeries: knee replacement and bladder stone. He had and recovered from Lyme Disease. He also had a police rap sheet for biting my friends gorgeous 5 year old daughter in the lip.. .which required plastic surgery...and the list goes on and on.
I guess I'll just have to continue to fantasize on petfinder.com.
He doesn't miss the furry vacuum cleaner like I do.

Always remember and never forget , while dogs are cute furry and loveable , they also require walking ( especially when there is 4 feet of snow outside) , you ALWAYS have to find someone to sit with them when you go away and that doesn't even begin to cover the vet expenses, boarding expenses, etc. Now I AM the biggest animal lover I can think of but when my beloved pets all passed I was very sad but now......... I can travel without worry , don't have the costs of all the vet fees but bottom line I TOO miss my furry little friends...so ya wanna another puppy ? Do you really love getting up at all hours and walking the pet? Rethink ......and then decide

Do you want to be a foster parent or a grandparent that you can send them back when a enough is enough! Remember carry doggie bags when you walk them no doggie dirt on the bottom of your shoes!
