If Jane Jetson could do it, then we can too!

There are many stories I have heard from our readers regarding the use
of video chat technology.  Whether its ichat or Skype, we can now connect with our business partners, husbands, wives, lovers, parents and children in a whole new way. With a flip of a switch, we can see who we are talking to and it’s a lot less expensive than a cell phone call.

There are advantages and disadvantages to this.

On Mother’s Day, you read our blog about Susan Skyping with her daughter who was traveling abroad.  In an internet café in the Czech Republic her daughter had to use the bathroom but didn’t want to disconnect. It was early morning her time and with no makeup and her most vicious motherly stare, she dared anyone who walked by her daughters laptop to mess with her.  Someone passed by and did a double take.  “Don’t even think about it!”  She yelled from the computer.  Even in English they got the message.

I heard another story about a woman whose husband travels a lot.  Their technology story is a bit different.  Often times a half a world away, they choose to keep their marriage intimate by having Skype sex.  This isn’t the furtive, porn type of computer sex.  This is marital sex.  The kind you have to do to keep the flame alive.  She figures it is better than having him wander down to the hotel bar to go the other route.  But with the time difference it isn’t often easy.  The kids are in the other room screaming, the window washers are there, the usual chaos of mid-afternoon her time. Try going for the sexy when that’s in play.  To her credit she goes for the lingerie, the candles, locks the door and goes for it.  Even a thousand miles away it does the trick.  All in a days work for this busy Supermom. 

Technology?

Sometimes it’s a blessing; sometimes it’s just a newer way to stay connected!
