Falling Up
I did my first headstand in yoga yesterday.
It wasn't easy, but I was determined to do it. In the practice of Yoga, headstands improve health, reduce anxiety and stress and increase self-confidence. They also increase mental power, concentration and stimulate the chakras. (the turning power wheel in humans). Simply put, it makes everything fall upward.
To have my boobs at the base of my neck again was nothing short of exhilarating. Inverted asanas (the technical term for what we all did as kids) are yogas restorative way of reversing the action of gravity on the body. Instead of everything getting pulled towards your feet, everything shifts towards your head.
Truth be told, I haven't had a rush like that since college. In fact, I felt like everything was locking back in place--like legos.
I'm thinking that I may have to spend some time upside down everyday .
