Shower Power
Figures. The day my teenage boys read the Sunday NYT's is the day they run the article, "The Great Unwashed".
I work hard trying not to be a helicopter parent but the one thing that drives me crazy are smelly boys. They run around, they play sports, they sweat, they sit in their stinky clothes and sometimes they don't shower...and if they do, soap can be elusive. As much as I love them, and I DO LOVE THEM, a room full of them can give me an asthmatic attack. So, you can imagine the smile on my face when I get this email from one of my boys in college...
HEY MOM. CHECK OUT THIS IN THE NYTS..."Shampooing as little as possible can help retain moisture in dry locks and enhance curl shape, argue adherents of the practice; for some men, it’s about looking fashionably unkempt."
I'M GOING TO RUN WITH THIS FASHIONABLY UNKEMPT LOOK...IT SUITS MY PERSONALITY. LOVE YOU AND LIGHTEN UP.
Ooops...ok...So maybe on Parents Weekend, when I noticed that his Shower Caddy still looked untouched, and I might have said something like, "OMG, Don't you ever use soap?", I was bringing my old self to his new world.
At least he's reading the paper!

And there are Moms in the 70's that tried to get their girls to shave under their arms and legs but I got that it is the fashion. Give me a brake! Which is worse?

Having always been one for 'undesirable' orders .maybe you can sit and wait and when that one girl starts paying attention to him and SHE SAYS something , that will be the "change in the wind"

I don't know. The lemon under the armpits sounded so appealing! I think there should be a new dating service for the unwashed. Stinky.com?
