Go Oprah!

Oprah is pulling out all the stops on this, her last and what is it, 25th season on the air before moving her energy and shows to her own network, cleverly titled OWN.   For Monday's show this past week, she promoted that she was gong to reveal a big, dark , family secret.  She revealed to the world that she had a half-sister, which she just discovered a few months ago.  Even the Mama of drama couldn't escape the drama of her own life once again and couldn't stop herself from turning that into a ratings festival.  Over the past 25 seasons, Oprah has revealed just about every personal transgression she or her family has endured.   On the one hand this, in many ways, is why she has been so successful.  She is one of "us". She reveals everything good and bad about herself and her experiences then become relatable to the mostly female masses.

It was amazing that her newly discovered half sister had not gone to the press when she herself figured out that Oprah was her half-sister in 2007.  Talk about sitting on a tabloid gold-mine.  Oprah lauded her for her dignity and privacy. Too bad Oprah couldn't have done the same for her instead of turning into event television? I felt bad for the sister who was finally meeting her birth mother while being filmed.  Maybe she'll write a book about it now and Oprah can promote it for her.  Happy ending for the sisters?

Sure hope so.
