Stock Up
One of my favorite call to arms.
I'm not a storm chaser or a disaster freak but when any weather event approaches my hood, I drop everything and run to "Stock Up".
Go ahead, laugh. I'm one of those.
I happen to be driving by Costco yesterday when I heard the radio announce the Irene Hurricane warnings for the East Coast. In my best Danica Patrick move, I pulled a U-ey and was in the parking lot in a matter of seconds.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one who heard the broadcast. The store was PACKED. I jockeyed my cart through the crowd and made my way to the bottled water. I know that you're not supposed to buy Pellegrino in times like this, but I was in the aisle and I hate when people come over to my house and ask for sparkling water and I never have any. So I picked up a case.
I did that with the three pack of Whipped Cream, the over sized bags of Veggie Crisps, the frozen six packs of Yoplait smoothie mix (if we have a power outage--there goes my blender), the 8 pack of socks (my boys go through them like tissues), the 4 pack of Sensodyne Toothpaste, (daughter of a dentist so I always pick that up) the Charmin Ultra 30, and a gallon of organic low-fat milk which was probably the ONLY thing that I really needed.
This is what happens to me in Costco. I just lose myself.
When I got home, I realized that two of my flashlights didn't work, I didn't have the right size batteries, and I was out of Peanut Butter--a staple in times of disaster.
Well at least I can say, "I went to Costco...and survived".

Look mom lives in the hurricane state. One year we lost all the electric and $100.00 of food. The food I could live without but the electric? My hubby said" quit your bittching". Thank God Irene went north or I wouldn't be fit to live with! Next!
