The Micro Leftover
It drives me crazy to find the dregs in my kitchen.
There is something that must come back to me from a previous life. It makes me absolutely crazy and there is really no reason why I can't learn to be tolerant. After all, the minuscule cereal crumbs must have some value. They are nutritious, I suppose. The single slice of apple, though completely brown and disgusting, is edible, maybe to an animal. The cracker boxes with the lids and bags inside open with one-quarter of a cracker left inside could be a quick light snack to someone? Not to mention the milk left in the carton, the amount barely visible but if you hold it upside down for a few minutes maybe you drain out the last, tiny, sip?
It goes back to the fifties childhood that my husband had, where the threat of starving children loomed over his shoulder at every meal. He is of waste-not, want-not generation. I kind of think its the lazy-ass generation who doesn't want to bother with throwing out anything. Whatever the reason, it annoys me more than it should. I decided how I could possibly remedy the problem. I am going to take all the dregs/leftovers in my house and pile them up on a plate and serve them for dinner. Maybe I will turn them into an interesting omlete. It will be my own sustainable kitchen meal!

Here's to the dregs
at Robbie's house
she should put them down
for the outside mouse
And when she has caught
the inevitable rat
she should leave it sit out
right where all the dregs sat !
