Saving Camp Letters
Make sure that you save at least one.
My mother saved this gem that I wrote to my grandparents. I'm guessing that the date is about 1944 and I'm also guessing that it was about the time I magically stopped being homesick.
"Dear Grandmother and Grandfather how are you I am having a good time I am writing to Joyce how is Connie and bridge. hope you are having a good time thats all Janet Blum xxxx"
I was always trying to exhibit my best penmanship but on this one, I forgot the punctuation in the process!
One look at this letter and I can smell the wonderful scent of camp all over again.
If you can, make sure that you save a camp letter or two from your kids. I promise that it will always put an instant smile on their face and bring back wonderful memories for years to come.

This is so much better than my "help mommy this camp smells like horse poop" letter.

Or the letters sent from camp , that say love you Mommy please keep those sticks of gum coming . I love opening a letter with gum in it , even if it is hard as a rock.

So much better than the letter that says in HUGE letters,
GET ME OUT OF HERE. Which was my first letter. Good thing they ignored me, I went for 6 summers after that!

The sad part today is that the letters are sent as E-mails..these are not saved. I also loved when the letters were signed with first and last name.
as if we didn't know it was our child...fun to have
